Bio

Nicholas Cortes is a skilled attorney at Springer & Steinberg P.C. in Denver, Colorado, specializing in Criminal Defense, with additional expertise in Personal Injury and Immigration Law. Since obtaining his license in 2023, Nicholas has quickly established a strong reputation for his legal skills and dedication to justice, recognized by the 2024 Denver Bar Association and Access to Justice Pro Bono All-Star Award for his outstanding pro bono work.

Nicholas is distinguished by his commanding courtroom presence and profound understanding of evidence rules. His trials include acquittals for clients charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses. In April of 2023 Nicholas orchestrated and executed a legal strategy as the lead attorney in trial where his client was charged with serious felonies and facing 30+ years in prison. After a grueling five-day trial against two respected and formidable District Attorneys his client was found not guilty on all charges. Nicholas has built a robust network of professionals—including health experts, forensic accountants, and private investigators—to support his cases.

His journey to the practice of law is demonstrative of his resilience and leadership. Overcoming significant personal challenges and distinguished service in the Marine Corps, where he earned accolades for leadership and performance, Nicholas shifted his focus to law after an injury during his deployment to Afghanistan.

Outside of work, Nicholas coaches youth basketball for the City of Denver and enjoys spending time with his dog. For clients seeking a dedicated and proficient attorney, Nicholas Cortes offers a blend of strategic insight, controlled aggression and a deep commitment to achieving justice.

I define my success by the impact I have on people’s lives. I’m honored to even be in this position where I get the privilege to fight for people in their darkest hours.
